Don’t Get Burned! Read on for My Top 3 Sunscreen Picks

I don’t have to tell you that skin cancer is no joke.  As a skin cancer survivor myself I always make sure my skin is protected, even in the winter months.  Yes, you can still get sunburned in Florida in the winter. So if you’re not from here please be sure to lube up with your favorite sunscreen. I’m sure lobster is not the look you’re going for and having a painful, blistery sunburn is no way to spend a vacation.  Apply often, your skin will thank you.  Here are my top 3 picks for best sunscreen.

Pick #3: Badger Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Why I like it: This stuff is 100% certified natural and includes 98% organic ingredients; it’s good stuff. It’s also thick so it lasts a bit longer than those other commercial sunscreens we all know.

What I don’t like: If this sits for a couple of months it will separate. Kind of like mustard when you take it out of the fridge. You gotta shake it up to get it back to its original consistency. It can also start to smell a little funky. Tip: buy it and use it all up quickl before opening up another bottle of sunscreen.

Pick #2: Coppertone Sport SPF 50

Why I like it:  We are in the water A LOT; snorkeling, body boarding, etc. and we never burn when we re-apply as directed. It’s not quite as thick as Badger but if you’re in the water a lot this does the job and I highly recommend using this brand.

What I don’t like: It doesn’t have that original Coppertone scent that we all know and love. It has a well, sporty scent.

My #1 pick, the one even my dermatologist recommends:

Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF 30

Why I like it: It goes on easy, it has a light beachy scent, I never burn and it doesn’t have a sticky feel like some other commercial sunscreens do.

What I don’t like: There really isn’t anything I don’t like about this. This stuff is my absolute favorite sunscreen!

All of the sunscreens mentioned above are in lotion form. I have used these in their spray form however, have gotten burned using the sprays.* For maximum coverage and to ensure I don’t miss any areas I prefer the lotions.  That’s just my personal preference.

Enjoy the sun and the sand but don’t leave the house without your sunscreen!  What’s your favorite?

See you on the beach!
